Unfortunately there is a bug in Dragon 10.x (Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Dragon Medical) where Dragon essentially crashes when you shut down your computer. While not a showstopper, it can be annoying for some when you need to “end task” and close error messages that pop up while leaving for the day. If this bug does affect you, you will wish to follow the procedure below to decrease the chance of your profile becoming corrupt as a result of Dragon crashing.
Does Dragon crash on shut all the time? No.
Will this bug be fixed in a future release? Eventually, but when is unknown.
The Three Step Shut Down Process
- Save your user file (unless you do not wish or need to). Click on the Dragon Bar’s Dragon/NaturallySpeaking> Save User Files.
- Close your user file. Click on the Dragon Bar’s Dragon/NaturallySpeaking> Close User.
- Exit Dragon. Click on the Dragon Bar’s Dragon/NaturallySpeaking> Exit.
