I’ve been using Dragon since the version 2 days and every version does have its various improvements. I am also a Value Added Reseller, whose mission statement is to provide clients with personal, professional, and honest service. My existing clients know this quite well given the SeS Dragon NaturallySpeaking Training Workbook that I re-write with every version — from an actual user perspective and not “what should be”.
Do not misunderstand, I am passionate about Dragon, but I treat speech recognition like any other business tool — it must help me get more accomplished and faster. Dragon, for a long time, has achieved this for me, and I truly enjoy sharing this knowledge with others. Does version 11 fit the bill? There are definitely some great advancements worth noting…
Improved Overall Accuracy

New Mousing Commands
Mousing by voice is now complete, with new commands.

PC Hardware Specifications
Speakeasy Solutions recommends the following absolute minimum PC hardware requirements for Dragon:
- For a Windows XP OS, 2.4 GHz and 2 GB RAM.
- For a Windows Vista & 7 OS, 2.4 GHz and 4 GB RAM.
If antivirus is required, we recommend: the Home versions of NOD32 Antivirus, plus Smart Security if there is no firewall in place.
If several demanding applications will be used simultaneously, increase the processor and RAM for improved performance.

I’ve been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking for about a dozen years now. My upgrade to ver 11 has created a much slower response time, which is annoying. Sometimes it does not respond my dictation at all and I have to re-dictate. I’ve checked my acoustic settings and my microphone “passes” their quality check. I’ve got 2 GB of RAM on a 3 megahertz Intel computer with 135 GB left on my hard disk. Any suggestions? I’m tempted to revert to ver 9.0 but I think my vocabulary file is now not backwards-compatible. Any comments on that? Thx
As you are not a client of ours, it’s very difficult to say why you are experiencing a slow Dragon. I can tell you that we never encourage anyone to use an upgraded profile between versions, as this can be the source of numerous issues. If you would like to contract our services, however, let me know and I can send you an estimate. But try creating a new profile and see if that helps.
